~Village~

with Sue Rickards

Holding ourselves, together

We meet once a month for six months during the winter; a village gathering to include our losses as part of our vibrant living.

We need to be able to hold ourselves when grief and sorrow wash through our lives. And we also need a village community to acknowledge our grief and losses, tsunamis and ripples, so that they colour, but do not define, our lives.

For most of us this village is missing and we are left in the isolation of our grief. The cost of this is a depletion of our vitality.

This group becomes a village for our aliveness whilst we honour our losses. It's not what we carry, but how.

We'll dance, of course. We'll laugh and maybe cry. We'll be together and that is healthy.

Village is tender, rich and often unexpectedly enjoyable.

We include our sorrows knowing that each time we dare to love, dream or want, we risk loss. It is the wild and wonderful territory of lives well-lived
